Picnic in the Park Adventure: June 2023 Subscription Box

I am extra excited for summer this year! It is my first summer as a mom where none of my kids are napping so it opens up a lot of possibilities. We live in Houston so the heat and humidity are brutal, but we try to get outside for play time as much as possible. In my last blog post, I shared a free printable of the summer checklist and summer bucket list we are using; you can check it out here. One of the items on our bucket list is to have a picnic in the park. My kids even got me a beautiful picnic basket a few months ago to really complete the experience. We'll have fun bringing along this month's Adventure Box to the park so our dolls can have a picnic in the park, too.

This month's box includes the easiest DIY Kit I've ever made with this park bench, a darling green bicycle, and a picnic basket complete with a blanket, wooden board, water bottle, and some yummy food. If you're new here or stumbled across this post by accident, you can click here to learn more about The Adventure Box, a small world play quarterly subscription box for kids.

Your picnic basket includes:

-blanket

-water bottle

-wooden board

-baguette

-apple

-cheese

-cookie

My kids' favorite part of this box is the bicycle because the wheels actually spin. Interactivity makes everything better, not to mention I am totally digging that gorgeous green color. The dolls can ride a bike to the park just like we do. The picnic basket is technically a little oversized for this scale, but I did that on purpose to accommodate tiny hands trying to get tiny food out of the basket more easily.

The DIY Kit includes:

-2 side pieces

-seat and back pieces

This kit is so easy that I just made a quick video to show assembly. You can have the bench put together in under a minute. Any glue will work. I prefer a craft glue that gives me time to reposition if I need to versus super glue that dries so quickly.

When the picnic is over, the park bench transfers perfectly to the patio of The Adventure Dollhouse, and you can park the bike on the patio, too, to await the next adventure. Stay tuned for my next blog post where I'll show you how this picnic scene is traveling with us this summer in a vintage lunchbox.

Our cat Max loves this box, too! Do you think he's going for the mice or the cheese? I hope you love this summer box as much as my kids and cat do! I also hope this box encourages you to take your kids on their own picnic in the park. Don't forget to bring your mini friends, too..
